2024 Shore Excursion Showcase!

Once you’ve checked-in for our 2024 sailing, you can begin booking your Holland America Line shore excursions! Book now to reserve your spot, as some of these excursions will sell out quickly. Please note that Holland America allows cancellations for pre-paid shore excursions up to three days before a cruise's departure date. Cancellations made within this time frame will be refunded to the credit card used for purchase.

 

How to Book Shore Excursions Online:

  • Go to "Manage My Cruise" 
  • Under “Build Your Experience” select the desired category 
  • Use the right side of the page – “Log In With Booking Number” 
  • Enter your Booking Number, your last name, first name & validation question and hit “Log In” . Your booking number can be found in your StarVista LIVE account.
  • You may search for shore excursions, spa reservations, beverage packages, gifts and indulgences or book specialty dining reservations. Once you select the item you wish to book, click “add to cart” and check out.  Your credit card will be charged, and the activity will be added to your itinerary. 
  • Reminder – Shore excursions, spa and specialty dining can also be booked via the HAL Navigator App.

Sightseeing by Open-Air Double Decker Bus

Enjoy St. Maarten's views and fresh air from an open-top double-decker bus on this adventure full of photo opportunities and local tastings. Passing the Great Salt Pond, head through the countryside to Marigot, the French-side capital. Take photos in a truly European atmosphere on the waterfront, in the open-air markets, and among the quaint shops, boutiques, and sidewalk cafés. Back on the double-decker bus, you'll see the new Causeway Swing Bridge and perhaps also some immense sailboats and mega-yachts on the lagoon. One of the most famous beaches in the world, Maho Beach is best known for its plane spotting. This is where aviation enthusiasts and thrill-seekers watch aircraft on final approach to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM). South of the Simpson Bay Lagoon, pause at a local Rum Distillery for a tasting of various flavors of rum and at Old Amsterdam Cheese for some local dairy treats. 

Dutch St Maarten & French St Martin: A Panoramic Drive

This wheelchair accessible panoramic drive is for those who wish to see the sights of the Dutch and French sides of the island. Board an accessible air-conditioned coach and proceed through the Dutch capital of Philipsburg -- a bustling town with historical buildings, full-on street activity, and an abundance of shops and cafés. On the way to Marigot, on the French side of the island, you'll pass the Great Salt Pond and enjoy a photo stop at Cole Bay Hill. Continue from here into the French capital of Marigot. Browse in the outdoor food market, venture into inviting sidewalk cafés, and sample an array of duty-free shops.

Rockland Estate & Sky Explorer

Experience St Maarten's newest attraction -- the Soualiga Sky Explorer chairlift. You'll begin at the pier, boarding air-conditioned transportation for a 30-minute ride to Rockland Estate. Upon arrival, head to the plantation house, built in the 1700s, to learn the powerful story of Trace Wilson. Trace was born into slavery on the estate in 1818, and his descendant, Emilio Wilson, later purchased the property to educate current and future generations about the conditions of plantation life and the customs, traditions and history of St Maarten. Board the Soualiga Sky Explorer chairlift for a tranquil ride up a 2,630-foot span. Your ascent begins with an approximately 25-minute ride to the top of Sentry Hill -- St Maarten's highest point at 1,125 feet. As the landscape unfolds below, you're headed to one of St Maarten's highest mountains for spectacular panoramic views. When you're ready to descend, simply board the chairlift for the scenic trip down the mountain. Board the air-conditioned shuttle to return to the ship. 

Golden Eagle Catamaran

Sail aboard the Golden Eagle catamaran to a beautiful sandy beach on the calm side of St Maarten. The vessel you will travel on is a custom-designed catamaran built to SOLAS worldwide safety standards. Relax and enjoy an unforgettable experience while the crew pampers you. Laze in the shade of Golden Eagle's sails, lie in the nets or sit back in the captain's cockpit. The Golden Eagle will anchor off a fabulous white-sand beach. Go ashore and explore the island, sunbathe on the beach or take a dip in the crystal-clear waters. Once you're back on board and headed back to the pier, enjoy fresh sandwiches and sparkling wine as you cross the azure waters of the Caribbean.

Virgin Gorda & the Baths

An excursion motor launch picks you up and takes you on a 40-minute cruise along the Sir Francis Drake Channel to Spanish Town, Virgin Gorda. An open-air safari bus takes you on a five-minute drive to the Baths -- an area of mammoth boulders, palms, sand and sea caves for swimming and snorkeling in a unique atmosphere. Roam through the intricate network of trails and boulders to discover hidden caves and sea pools. Make your way to the Top of the Baths, where your bus is waiting and souvenir shopping is available. A short, scenic tour will take you back to your motor launch. A beverage is served before you return to the ship. 

Secrets of Tortola

Discover the charms of Tortola from the comfort of a Safari bus. From Road Town, you'll follow the coastal road towards the east of the island with stunning views of the surrounding islands and waterways. After East End, the original settlement on Tortola, the route ascends the hills to follow the ridgeline. En route, you'll take photos and stop at Mountain View for a refreshing beverage. Take 20 minutes to browse in the small souvenir shop or appreciate the dramatic panoramic views of the surrounding islands. This is the highest point on the island accessible by vehicle. Your tour continues along Ridge Road before descending to the north shore. Cross the island at its narrowest point before arriving at Pusser’s Landing at the West End. Here, the attractive little marina provides and opportunity for 15 minutes of shopping at Pusser’s, and spice and craft shops. Continue along the south shore of Tortola back to the pier.

Climb aboard an open-air safari bus in Road Town for a scenic island drive up Fort Hill and along Ridge Road. You'll pass the local town of Long Trench with its colorful mural depicting historical scenes of everyday life on the islands. Head through Fahie Hill, stopping at several vantage points for photos. The views towards Anegada, the US Virgin Islands, and many of the British Virgin Islands make for memorable stops along the route. Your tour continues along the ridgeline and descends Ross Path to beautiful Cane Garden Bay. Swim and relax here in the crystal-clear water of this spectacular white-sand beach. A bar, restaurant, changing rooms with showers and other facilities are available for your use. After your swim, the tour returns to the ship via the scenic Doty New Road and Joe's Hill, offering splendid views of Road Town and the harbor.
