Neil Sedaka, Frankie Avalon to headline music cruise

The music-themed Malt Shop Memories Cruise will be back in 2015 -- and in a bigger way.

Organizer StarVista LIVE says the annual homage to the music of the 1950s and 1960s will return in November with its largest lineup ever.

The new sailing will include live performances by more than 15 entertainers of the era including Neil Sedaka, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Chubby Checker & The Wildcats.

Also performing will be The Four Tops, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Ben E King, Lou Christie, Darlene Love, Sha Na Na, The Coasters, Sonny Turner (former lead singer of The Platters), The Brooklyn Reunion starring The Mystics, The Passions & The Classics, The Traditions and The Tribunes.

The voyage will kick off Nov. 1 from Fort Lauderdale on Holland America's 2,104-passenger Eurodam and include calls in Aruba, Curacao and the line's private island in the Bahamas, Half Moon Cay.

As with five previous Malt Shop cruises, the sailing is inspired by Time Life's famed Malt Shop Memories music collection -- a box set containing 150 songs epitomizing the birth of rock n' roll.

In addition to live performances, the voyage will feature 1950s-themed sock hops, hula hoop contests, beach parties and a themed "prom night" event. Also planned is an Elvis tribute artist contest.

More details of the trip are online at MaltShopCruise.com. Prices start at $1,875 per person, based on double occupancy.

StarVista LIVE is a new division of StarVista Entertainment/Time Life and their parent company Direct Holdings Global, producers of The Malt Shop Memories Cruise since 2010.
